How do I download content from an old module?

This answer tells you about two ways that you can download your content from a previous module.

Answer

If you're going to lose access to a module, you might want to download some of the content first, so that you can use it in future. There are a number of ways that you could do this.

To select any number of individual files in the module:

  1. Within the Brightspace module, select 'Control Panel' from the navbar.
  2. Select 'Manage Files'.
  3. Check the boxes of the files or folders that you wish to download.
  4. Select the 'download' icon (which looks like a cloud with a down arrow).
  5. Brightspace will then prepare a zip folder containing all of the files that you selected. Click the filename to choose where to save it.
  6. Select 'save'.
  7. You'll then just need to unzip / extract the files as you normally would with a compressed folder.

Equally, you could download the entire course content.

  1. Within the Brightspace module, select your profile picture, and choose 'View as Student'.
  2. Select 'Content' from the navbar.
  3. Select 'Table of Contents' from the sidebar.
  4. A download button will appear towards the top of the page. Select this and wait for the zip file to prepare.
  5. Save it in your preferred location.
  6. You'll then just need to unzip / extract the files as you normally would with a compressed folder.

Be aware that if you only want to do this so that you can re-use content in a different Brightspace module, there's a tool that makes this very easy. See this related FAQ entry: https://uos.libanswers.com/brightspace/faq/191067
