How do Partner students access electronic resources?
How do Partner students access electronic resources such as e-books, electronic journal articles, and specialist databases such as CINAHL, Westlaw, or Lexis+?
Answer
To access e-books and electronic journal articles, the process is the same for all students and staff:
First do your search as usual in Discovery. When you find an electronic resource that you want to get access to, there will be a blue button that says View EBook or View Full Text (for articles). Click on this. You will be prompted to enter your University of Suffolk credentials - i.e. your S-number email address and password. This will log you into the resource, whether ebook, e-journal, e-journal article etc.
Remember, you do not need to log in before searching Discovery.
If you have already logged in to UoS elsewhere during the course of your session (e.g. to Brightspace or Outlook or Minerva) then you will be taken straight through to the resource.
For our databases the answer is the same: whether you search them via Discovery or go to the database directly (through the A-Z eresources list), you will be prompted to log in to view full text, using the normal log in screen. Remember that not all databases are integrated with Discovery; these, such as the legal databases Lexis+ and Westlaw, must be logged in to via the A-Z eresources list.
